The New African American Civil War Museum Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Dedication Ceremony will b dedicated on July 18 , 2011. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Grand Opening of the African American Civil War Museum, will join the ranks of educational, historically accurate and interactive museums, with $5 million in exhibitions, touch screens and the best curator in town! The New location at 1925 Vermont Avenue NW is directly across from the African American Civil War Memorial, which highlights the story of the 209,145 African American Soldiers who served during the American Civil War.

The Grand Opening Ceremony and Awards Program - Guests include Mayor Vincent Gray and Congresswoman Eleanor Norton and other elected officials and dignitaries. Awards Recipients to be honored during the program includes US Senator Mary Landrieu; US Senator Jim Webb; US Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr.; and Union and Long-time Labor Leader, William “Bill” Lucy; Barbara Lang, President/CEO DC Chamber of Commerce (partial listing) amongst others.
