Prince William County Va list of black history month events
Historic Lucasville School will be open for tours Saturdays and Sundays in Feb. from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Lucasville School served local African-American children from 1885 to 1926. Lucasville School is located at 10516 Godwin Drive in Manassas.
The Black History Month Committee presents Black Women in American Culture & History, on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Dr. A.J. Ferlazzo Building, 15941 Donald Curtis Drive in Woodbridge. The program will include a video presentation and keynote speaker covering the topic of Lunch will be served after the program.
Historian Emmanuel Dabney will share his talk titled, âDiamonds, Education, Emancipation, and Race: The Family of Silas Omohundro,â on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at 7 p.m. in the Old Manassas Courthouse, 9248 Lee Avenue in Manassas. The lecture is part of the continuing 2012 History Lecture Series. There is no registration or fee to attend and all are welcome. The lecture will discuss race relations in antebellum Virginia.
âSlave Life Toursâ are scheduled for Saturday & Sunday, Feb. 25-26, 2012, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Ben Lomond Historic Site, 10321 Sudley Manor Drive in Manassas. The program will include hands-on activities such as doll making and cooking, and an exclusive tour of the warming kitchen. There is a $5.00 charge for the program (children under 6 free) and no reservations are needed.
