HERITAGE CELEBRATION DURING BLACK HISTORY MONTH

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) will celebrate Black History Month by hosting its second annual Avoice Heritage Celebration from 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., February 9 at the Hyatt Regency Washington, 400 New Jersey Avenue, NW. Reps. Chaka Fattah of Pennsylvania and Donna Edwards of Maryland will co-emcee the evening along with Andrea Roane, WUSA-TV morning anchor.
The Foundation will present the following awards:
* Distinguished Individual Award to Debra Newman Ham, Ph.D, a specialist in African-American history and culture and professor of history at Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD
* CBC Member Preservation Award to Rep. Ronald Dellums, one of the 13 founding members of the Congressional Black Caucus and former mayor of Oakland, CA
* Distinguished Corporation Award to The Coca-Cola Company for its long history of recognizing the role of African American history through its outreach and communication strategy
